Corporate Wellness Programs: Locker Rooms to Board Rooms

A new weight management program called Fitsmi meshes social media with style, nutrition, exercise, and fun. Fitsmi started by professionals working with obesity management and members of the entertainment industry to aid overweight teen girls in creating healthy habits and educate their mothers as a support system.

The Center for Disease Control reports that almost 5 million teen girls in the US are overweight. Fitsmi is tailored toward this demographic, but can be modified for any group.

The program provides:

1. teen-friendly interface via social media;

2. a peer and professional support system;

3. small-step approach toward behavioral change;

4. flexible options with tracking data; and

5. a companion site to help mothers support their daughters.

Fitsmi utilizes an inviting holistic approach that carries great appeal for users. This program is designed for those who do not have professional help and is easily customizable for pediatricians, clinicians, corporate wellness programs, and schools.
